Firefighters evacuate unit complex in Brisbane’s North
A unit has been destroyed by a blaze that broke out in a unit complex and caused the evacuation of 50 people in Brisbane’s northside.
Emergency services were called to Camborne Street at Alderley about 9pm on Saturday.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the fire was under control half an hour after the initial call to the Department of Housing building.
“Everyone was accounted for and three people were treated for smoke inhalation,” he said.
“The fire seems to have been on the fourth floor of the complex and firefighters were assisting with the removal of several people.”
Paramedics took a stable patient to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with smoke inhalation while another two people were assessed but did not require further medical treatment.
The fire investigation unit was continuing investigations on Sunday.
