Emergency services spend hours fighting Gold Coast warehouse blaze

UPDATE at 6.20 AM on Friday: Fire investigators will return to the scene of a massive factory blaze in Burleigh Heads this morning, to try and figure out how the fire started.

Seven fire trucks and a support team were called to the scene on Taree Street around 7.20pm last night, following reports of a commercial factory on fire.

When crews arrived, the fire had spread to a neighbouring building, while several others were quickly filling with smoke.

It took around three hours to get the blaze under control, though some crews stayed behind to monitor hot spots.

All trucks left the scene around 1.00am.

Four factories were involved in the incident.

Investigations are underway.

FIRST at 7.50 PM (Thursday, 23 May): FIREFIGHTERS were battling a fire burning in an industrial estate on the Gold Coast on Thursday night.

It’s understood the blaze broke out inside a warehouse on Taree Street at Burleigh Heads shortly before 7.30pm.

Multiple fire crews were on the scene, attempting to extinguish the inferno at the time of writing.

Police are in attendance, as are paramedics but thankfully there have been no reports of any injuries.

Members of the public are being urged to stay away from the area while emergency services respond.
