Roof collapses as Brisbane house is gutted by flames

A house has been gutted by fire in Brisbane’s west

A house in Chapel Hill has been destroyed by fire, with parts of the roof collapsing as firefighters worked to control the blaze.

Emergency services were called to a Ludlow Street home just after noon on Wednesday.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said eight crews worked to control the fire.

“When they arrived, the house was well alight and they went into action right away,” she said.

“There was a partial roof collapse while they put the blaze out and completed a search of the place.”

The spokeswoman said no one was harmed during the fire and everyone was accounted for.

“The fire was out just before 1pm and crews remained on scene to dampen the area,” she said.

Meanwhile, a second house fire broke out about 12.30pm at Kingston, south of Brisbane.

Firefighters were working to control the flames while paramedics were on scene but no patients required assistance.
